Sometimes a domain name is registered through one of AEserver’s authorized partners/resellers. In these cases, you may still see AEserver listed as the Registrar of Record in WHOIS/RDAP, or your provider may inform you that the domain is registered via AEserver.
If you would like to become a direct AEserver client, you can request an internal transfer by creating your own AEserver account and placing a transfer order.
Note: We value and respect all our partners and resellers, and we do not actively encourage moving away from them. At the same time, we respect your freedom of choice. If you prefer to manage your domains directly with AEserver, this guide will help.
Before You Start (Important) #
1) Confirm you have no pending obligations #
Before initiating any transfer, please confirm you have no outstanding obligations with your current provider, such as:
- Unpaid invoices or billing disputes
- Bundled services (for example: “free domain with hosting”)
- Contractual commitments or legal/compliance matters
AEserver cannot intervene in any billing or contractual matters between you and your current provider.
2) Understand what a domain transfer does (and does not) move #
A domain transfer moves domain management to your AEserver account. It does not automatically move:
- Website hosting
- Email hosting
- SSL certificates
- DNS hosting (depends on who currently manages your DNS zone)
If your current provider also hosts your website/email, plan that migration separately to avoid downtime.
What You Will Need #
To complete the transfer, you typically need:
✅ An active domain name (not expired, pending-deleted / not in dispute)
✅ Authorization Code (also known as EPP code, domain password, or transfer code) from your current provider/reseller
✅ Access to your domain’s registrant/admin contact method if verification is required
The authorization code must be provided by your current provider. AEserver cannot generate or retrieve another provider’s EPP/auth code.
Transfer Time Frames #
| Extension | Typical Transfer Time |
|---|---|
| .ae | 5 working days |
| .qa | 5 working days |
| .bh | 5 working days |
“Working days” usually means Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). In some cases, additional registry verification may affect the timeline.
How to Transfer Your Domain to AEserver #
Step 1: Create your AEserver account #
- Sign up for a new AEserver account (or log in if you already have one).
- Review and accept AEserver’s Terms of Service during signup/checkout.
Step 2: Place a transfer order (similar to a new domain order) #
- Search for your domain name on AEserver’s website.
- Select Transfer (if shown).
- Proceed to checkout.
The order flow is very similar to registering a new domain. The key difference is that you will be asked for an authorization code.
Step 3: Enter the Authorization Code (EPP / Transfer Code) #
During checkout, you will be prompted to enter the domain’s Authorization Code.
- Request it from your current provider/reseller
- Copy/paste it exactly as provided (codes may be case-sensitive)
Step 4: Complete checkout #
Once you complete checkout:
- Your transfer request is submitted to the relevant registry/provider process.
- Our team will process and monitor the transfer and may contact you if additional information is required.
Step 5: Transfer completes and the domain appears in your AEserver account #
When the transfer is completed:
- The domain will appear in your AEserver client area
- You can manage renewals, DNS settings (where applicable), and contact details directly through AEserver
Keeping Your Website & Email Working (DNS Checklist) #
Transfers are usually smooth when DNS is planned correctly. Use this checklist:
✅ If your nameservers will remain the same #
If your domain is already using external nameservers (for example: Cloudflare or your own DNS servers) and you keep them unchanged, then your services typically continue without interruption.
⚠️ If your current provider manages your DNS zone #
If your provider hosts your DNS (common when they also provide hosting/email), you should do this before you transfer:
- Ask your provider if your DNS zone is hosted by them
- Copy/export your DNS records, including:
- A / AAAA records
- CNAME records
- MX records (email)
- TXT records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, verification records)
- Be ready to re-create these DNS records on AEserver DNS or another DNS provider if needed
If you are unsure, contact AEserver Support and we can guide you based on your current nameserver setup.
Troubleshooting (Common Issues) #
“My provider won’t give me the auth code” #
The authorization/EPP code must be provided by your current provider. If they refuse, you will need to resolve it directly with them.
“My domain is expired / suspended” #
Expired or suspended domains often need to be renewed/restored first before a transfer can proceed. Contact your provider to confirm the domain status.
“I transferred the domain and my email/website stopped” #
This usually happens when the DNS zone was hosted by the previous provider and DNS records were not copied. Restore the DNS records and confirm nameservers.
Frequently Asked Questions #
Will the transfer extend my expiry date? #
This depends on the domain extension and registry policy. During checkout, AEserver will display the applicable transfer terms/pricing.
Can I transfer multiple domains? #
Yes. You can submit transfer orders for multiple domains (each domain requires its authorization code).
Does AEserver support internal transfers from resellers? #
Yes. If the domain is currently under a reseller/partner account, the transfer process moves it under your own direct AEserver client profile.
