Resource Terminologies Explained #
Understanding hosting terminology helps you choose the right plan:
- CPU Limit: The maximum percentage of one CPU core an account can use. Prevents runaway scripts from hogging CPU time.
- Memory (RAM) Limit: The maximum amount of RAM an account may allocate. Ensures fair memory distribution across all users.
- I/O Rate: The cap on disk read/write operations per second. Controls how intensively an account can access storage.
- Entry Processes: The number of simultaneous processes or connections an account can spawn (e.g., PHP workers, SSH sessions).
- Inodes: The total count of files and directories an account can create. Guards against inode exhaustion attacks.
- Bandwidth: The aggregate volume of data an account can transfer in and out over the network per month.
Note that you can view your resource consumption and usage via cPanel > Metrics > Resource Usage.
