| Objective | Connect your AEserver domain to a Wix website using DNS records while keeping the domain registered at AEserver. |
| Why customers use this | Keeps your domain at AEserver while building your site on Wix; Lets you keep control of renewals and registrar-level settings |
| Records to expect | Usually A and CNAME records shown inside Wix; some setups may also include TXT verification records. |
Before you start
Have access to both your AEserver Client Area and your account at Wix.
Know whether you are connecting the root domain (example.com), a subdomain (such as www.example.com or shop.example.com), or both.
Take a quick screenshot or copy of any current DNS records before editing them, especially if the domain already has a live website or email service.
Step 1 – Get the DNS records from Wix
1. Log in to your Wix account and open the website you want to use.
2. Go to Domains or Settings > Domains, then choose Connect a domain you already own.
3. Enter your full domain name and choose the manual/DNS connection option if Wix asks.
4. Copy the exact DNS records Wix shows you. In most cases this includes one or more A records for the root domain and a CNAME record for www.
Step 2 – Add the records in the AEserver Client Area
1. Sign in to your AEserver Client Area.
2. Open Domains and click the domain name you want to connect.
3. Open DNS Management, DNS Zone, or Manage DNS. If you do not see this option, first confirm the domain is using AEserver-supported nameservers and that DNS management is active for the service.
4. Add the records exactly as provided by Wix. If conflicting A or CNAME records already exist for the same host, edit or remove the old ones first.
5. Save the changes and wait a few minutes before testing again in Wix.
Step 3 – Verify and finish
1. Return to Wix and click Verify Connection or the equivalent confirmation button.
2. Allow time for DNS propagation. Many changes appear within a few minutes or hours, but full propagation can take up to 24-48 hours.
3. Once the service shows as connected, test the live result. Open the website, send a test email, or visit the exact subdomain you connected.
Quick tips
Always copy the records from Wix instead of retyping them manually
Use @ for the root domain only if the AEserver DNS screen uses @; some panels leave the root blank
Do not create two different CNAME records for the same host such as www
Common issues and tips to solve them
| Common problem | What it usually means / what to do |
| Wix cannot verify the domain | Wait for DNS propagation, then re-check for typos or duplicate records |
| Old website still appears | Clear browser cache or test from another network while DNS updates spread |
| Email stops working after changes | Check that you only changed website records and did not delete MX records used for email |
If you are not sure which record to edit, or if the domain already has a working website or email service, contact AEserver Support before making changes so we can help you avoid downtime.
